Abstract:The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) hosted a peer exchange of its research program October 14-16, 2014. The peer exchange was held on the Clemson University campus in Clemson, SC. The peer exchange team included representatives from the Mississippi, New Hampshire, West Virginia, and South Carolina DOTs, as well as a representative from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Personnel from the SC Transportation Technology Transfer Service (T3 S) also attended. The SCDOT selected the following focus areas for the peer exchange: 1. Monitoring Project Process; 2. Final Report Requirements; and, 3. Tracking Implementation and Determining Cost Benefit. The discussions during the peer exchange identified both strengths of the SCDOT research program as well as possible opportunities for improving the program.
