Abstract:2003 Facts and Figures: 836 persons were killed in Wisconsin motor vehicle traffic crashes. This is an average of two lives lost each day on Wisconsin trafficways. The fatality rate per 100 million miles of travel was 1.4, compared to 1.37 in 2002. 56,882 persons were injured in 39, 413 reported injury crashes and 748 fatal crashes. 5,602, or 10%, of those injured were known at the time of the crash to have sustained incapacitating injuries. Of the 836 persons killed, 8% (53 pedestrians and 12 bicyclists) were not drivers or passengers of motor vehicles.
