Abstract:
The data contained within this report is extracted, by the West Virginia Division of Highways, Traffic Engineering Division, from a database of West Virginia Uniform Traffic Crash Reports submitted to the West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles by state law enforcement agencies. These law enforcement agencies include the West Virginia State Police, all County Sheriff’s Departments, and Municipal Police Departments, as well as other agencies. The 2000 West Virginia Accident Data Report has been revised. The changes and additions found in this report were made as an effort to provide additional and/or more useful information to the users. The revisions reflect the input of many organizations and people. We encourage you to use caution in comparing information to older data, as some of the data contained in this version appears to be the same as data contained in previous versions, while it is in fact only similar.
