Abstract:This final report documents the results of the project “A Sustainable Performance-Based Methodology to Address the Impact of Climate Changes on the “State of Good Repair” of Transportation Infrastructure”. Threats, risks, and performance measures to monitor the climate change impact on transportation infrastructure are identified; and a framework to incorporate risk assessment of infrastructure damage due to extreme climate events into TAM practices is presented. The framework includes an analytical method to quantify the impact and level of risk, and recommendations to mitigate the impact of climate change. Two case studies demonstrate the applicability of the framework and risk assessment method for a bridge and a road section. Occurrence, severity, and the Risk Priority Number (RPN) are outcomes of the model proposed to quantify the risk of damaged due to extreme climate events. The RPN can be used to prioritize funding allocation in the asset management programs.
