Abstract:

This report includes: (1) an overview of relevant literature related to maintenance scheduling, prioritization, and methodologies; (2) Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) maintenance background and current approach including information from the Field Operations Guide Manual, Maintenance Rating Program, and Maintenance Guidance Manual; and (3) Routine maintenance and inspection programs at Utah Department of Transportation (Utah DOT), Arkansas DOT, Montana DOT, Alabama DOT, and Florida DOT. It is hoped that understanding strategies used by other states will help contextualize KYTC's current practices and potentially generate ideas for improving its approach to maintenance.
