Proceedings of the UMTA/APTA Workshop on Fixed Guideway Planning
The Urban Mass Transportation Administration and the American Public Transit Association held a special workshop on fixed guideway planning on June 12-14, 1991. The purpose of the workshop was to facilitate an exchange of information on fixed guideway planning. In addition, the workshop was to serve as a forum to discuss the UMTA guidance documents concerning the planning phases of major capital investment projects. The format of the workshop was developed to maximize the participants' opportunity to interact in small groups by using breakout sessions to discuss specific questions about key issues that had been hi^lighted in the plenary sessions. This workshop summary is organized around these plenary and associated breakout sessions and provides a brief summary of the plenary sessions and an overview of the major issues discussed in the breakout sessions. The reader is encouraged to read the entire report to obtain a more detailed understanding of what the participants discussed
