This report details FAA Logistics Center employee safety perceptions following the implementation of a safety awareness program. Safety perceptions were baselined in 1992 and a follow-up assessment was conducted in 1995. The purpose of the follow-up survey was to (1) assess differences in perceptions of safety that may have resulted from changes made in the safety program since the 1992 assessment; and (2) determine the managerial and organizational factors that may have impacted those safety perceptions. The present survey was administered to 329 employees (supervisors and non-supervisors) during a mandatory monthly safety meeting. The results show that specific actions intended to demonstrate the importance of safety can lead to higher levels of perceived management and supervisory support for safety. Such practices can also lead to higher levels of perceived safety in the workplace. These practices, however, do not appear to influence perceptions of organizational politics, supervisory fairness, or coworker support for safety.
