Abstract:The Long Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) program's goal is to improve pavement performance and cost-effectiveness. To achieve its goal, LTPP collects data from more than 2,500 pavement sections in North America, analyzes these data to explain how and why pavements perform as they do, and then translates these insights into products and information for pavement design, rehabilitation, maintenance, and management. This document summarizes the achievements of the LTPP program in 2001. It discusses its role in validation and calibration of design procedures, and the improvement of the quality and quantity of traffic data. It notes that LTPP completed several data analysis projects in 2001, and introduced the latest version of DataPave, which provides desktop access to LTPP data. It discusses LTPP's partners and how they help LTPP to achieve its goals. Finally, it provides an overview of key initiatives that LTPP will be pursuing in 2002.
