  The Annual Safeguards Summary Event List (SSEL), 2000, provides brief summaries of safeguards-related events involving nuclear material or facilities regulated by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) which occurred and were reported from January 1, 2000, through December 31, 2000. Events are described under the categories of Bomb or Explosive-related, Intrusion, Missing and/or Allegedly Stolen, Transportation-related, Tampering/Vandalism, Arson, Firearms, Radiological Sabotage, Nonradiological Sabotage, By-product Material, and Miscellaneous. The information contained in the event descriptions is derived primarily from official NRC reporting. Also included is a section on foreign SSEL incidents for purposes of comparison and to broaden the database of potential threat events. It is derived primarily from press reports.
