Abstract:The Interactive Transit Pricing Evaluation (ITPE) model is developed as a user-interactive pricing strategic planning system. Input and output features are menu-driven and graphical in nature to enhance user friendliness and ease of interaction. The ITPE model consists of three submodels: the disaggregate elasticity model for ridership and revenue (DELREV), a cost model, and a pricing policy evaluation model. DELREV defines the impacts of fare and service policy changes on various submarkets. Included in this submodel is an elasticity selector that helps the user select specific elasticities based on previously collected data. The cost model estimates the supply cost of transit provision in regards to specified variables, service types, and fare categories. The pricing policy evaluation model forecasts the impacts of the change in fares and/or service levels on the performance of the transit system as a whole. The ITPE model has been tested using ridership data from the Queen City Metro in Cincinnati.
