Abstract:An FAA Notice gives temporary direction or makes one-time announcements. Notices
remain in effect for 12 months or less. They are self-canceling and my not be
revised or extended. This notice provided guidance material relevant to digital
flight data recorder systems (DFDRS); it expired January 16, 1998. The DFDRS
are used for both inspection/maintenance and accident/incident investigations.
To facilitate the use of these systems for the purpose outlined above, DFDRS
contain a standard data format that is documented at the time of certification
and maintained by the operator as a permanent part of the aircraft record. This
notice provided a standard data definition for all DFDRS. 12p.
