Abstract:Beginning in late March of 2012, the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC) entered into an agreement with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) for the establishment and first year activities of a BNMC Transportation Management Association (TMA). The TMA was to be a membership organization that worked towards the development of a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) toolkit – or a set of strategies, policies, and programs designed to reduce the number of single occupant vehicles (SOV’s) and to promote the use of alternative transportation modes among workers at the BNMC. The BNMC is a consortium of nine healthcare, research and educational institutions located on 120 acres in downtown Buffalo, New York. This document discusses the creation and marketing of the TDM toolkit, project outcomes, and obstacles and planned solutions.
