• Abstract:
  Study presents final recommendations and a brief description of the Interstate 5 Seattle to Vancouver, B. C. Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Early Deployment Program for use by the Washington State Dept. of Transportation in providing a fully integrated state-wide transportation system on the roadways within WSDOT's jurisdiction. The study focuses on specific applications in the areas of traffic management, traveler information, emergency management and commercial vehicle opeations with the emphasis on providing specific projects to be deployed throughout the corridor. The study addressed seven project tasks: assessment of transportation needs, identification of corridor ITS opportunities, recommended corridor strategies, development of the corridor plan, development of the corridor communication plan, coordination of the outreach effort and preparation of a final report.
