Transportation agencies face continual pressure to ensure the proper allocation of transportation investments and financial resources. Choosing the right set of congestion mitigation and mobility strategies is critical to ensuring the wise application of these funds. Texas A&M Transportation Institute researchers developed the Future Improvement Examination Technique (FIXiT) sketch planning tool to assist in making those choices. This report describes an updated version of the FIXiT tool, improved to make it more responsive and simpler to use. The objective of the project is to update the previous FIXiT tool to estimate the congestion benefits of transportation projects by using simplified methodology, while focusing on different types of delay reduction and multiple congestion mitigation strategies.
