Abstract:

This report summarizes the financial and operating data submitted annually to the Urban Mass Transportation Administration (UMTA) by the nation's public transit operators, pursuant to section 15 of UMTA Act of 1964, amended. The report consists of two sections: Section 1 contains industry aggregate statistics only, while Section 2 contains detailed financial and operating data on individual transit properties. The current edition contains transit industry statistics compiled from the Section 15 data submitted by the transit properties for fiscal years ending between July 1, 1978 and June 30, 1979, first year of operations of the Section 15 reporting system.
