Abstract:Dynamic Mobility Applications Analytical Needs Assessment was a one-year project (July 2011 to July 2012) to develop a strategy for assessing the potential impact of twenty-eight applications for improved mobility across national transportation systems. The purpose was to outline a modeling approach for each application that can be implemented that would allow federal stakeholders to determine the potential benefits of investing in a particular application or group of applications. This project was conducted by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), with technical support from the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Virginia (UVA). This document presents the final report of the DMA project, to include an overview of the applications, their data, performance measures and modeling needs, an assessment of current transportation analytics capabilities, a traceability matrix for each application to highlight the gaps between existing capabilities and modeling needs, identified challenges for the implementation of impact assessments, a recommended modeling approach for each application, and finally a research implementation plan and summary of findings.
