Abstract:This report is the companion to the PowerPoint presentation for the project “A Study of Unstable Slopes in Permafrost: Alaskan Case Studies Used as a Training Tool.” The objectives of this study are 1) to provide a comprehensive review of literature on unstable soil and/or weathered rock slopes in permafrost areas, and 2) to summarize three case studies of key historic and/or ongoing unstable soil slopes in permafrost in the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities’ Northern Region.
This report closely parallels the format of the PowerPoint presentation, and slides that correspond in content are referenced accordingly. For example, this introduction corresponds to Slides 1 and 2. In what follows, the relevant slide number/s will be included as subheadings.
