Abstract:On February 23–24, 2011, Federal agencies from the United
States, Canada, and Mexico sponsored a workshop in San
Diego, California, to discuss opportunities for improvement
regarding the greening of transportation at the borders.1
The workshop, which approximately 130 people attended,
focused on the following four border transportation themes:
• Sustainability and Livability;
• Green financing and industry;
• Green technology; and
• Performance measures.
The report, which presents an overview of green transportation
technologies, policies, and initiatives, is based on
presentations given and discussions held at the workshop.
It is intended to serve as a reference for agencies involved
in border transportation planning, including national, state/
provincial, and local governments.
