Abstract:This report describes research conducted for the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Division of Civil Rights to aid in its compliance efforts relative to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The research activities included the performance of a gap analysis of NJDOT’s data collection and data sharing efforts in support of compliance activities, a literature review of best practices related to the development of a required Transition Plan, the drafting of an updated Transition Plan document that outlines progressive steps the program can undertake in the future, and the development of educational materials for an internal training program within NJDOT that is focused on ADA awareness and compliance.
