Abstract:While serving as an important measure in the transportation planning process, the calculation of accessibility typically does not take into account the temporal constraints faced by individuals. When temporal constraints are considered, the resulting accessibility can be vastly different for people of different demographic profiles, including gender, income, geographical location, and ethnicity. The objective of this project is to create a temporal-based accessibility measure and analyze the correlation between accessibility and one’s demographic profile, using the New York City Residents Sample from the 1997/98 regional household travel survey.
