Abstract:
This report was prepared for the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC). It examines the economics of Airbus Industre (AI) civil transport programs and the potential effects of AI's presence on both the market for civil transport aircraft and on competing U.S. firms. One of the primary reasons for conducting this study was to develop data and information on AI's operations and the levels of government support its programs receive because AI does not provide detailed information on eIther its own financial performance, or the support it receives from member governments through funding of AI-related efforts in their
own countries. Another important reason for conducting the study was to deepen understanding of the complex web of relations between tfie participating companies, the governments and the AI consortium.
