Abstract:
The purpose of traffic control device and warrants for their use is to help to insure highway safety by providing for the orderly and predictable movement of all traffic and to provide such guidance and warnings as are needed. This manual sets forth the basic principles that govern the design and usage of traffic control devices. The manual sets for traffic control device standards for all Ohio streets and highways open to public travel regardless of the class or governmental agency having jurisdiction. Meanings ascribed to devices in this manual are in general accord with the national Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) adopted by the Federal Highway Administration. The manual is presented as a series of PDF files from a hyperlinked table of contents allowing for revision of individual sections as needed. The base document was published in 1972; there have been 21 revisions as of time of this review.
