Abstract:Modern roadway management requires information. The Roadway Reference System (RRS) is a means by which data can be associated to a specific location and retrieved in reference to that location. The major advantage to this system is that once in place, the post location remains constant in time despite of any roadway changes in other locations unlike mile-log systems. The use of the RRS also allows extraction of information from different systems and databases for a specific location. This manual explains the purpose, operation and uses of the RRS. First published April 1999, revised May 1999. Appendix, 3 tables, 19figures, 33p.
