Abstract:The legislative directive for the State Intercity Bus Plan asked that the Department offer alternatives for future State involvement in the intercity bus area, estimates for the projected State capital and operating costs and revenues for each of these alternatives, as well as a recommended approach for future State action. Proposed State actions include long-term state actions to offer guidance and support to the intercity bus transportation system in California; regulatory reform of California's intercity bus industry to restore competitie parity upon introduction of federal reforms, and a five-year emergency transition program to temper the immediate adverse impacts of intercity bus regulatory reform.
