Abstract:
The purpose of this report is to more fully inform members of the Legislature, other interested parties, and the public about the major issues currently impacting the provision of public transportation services and mobile source-related air quality problems in California, keying on those issues under the jurisdiction of the Assembly Committee on Transportation and most clearly involving state responsibilities or programs. Each chapter begins with a brief historical and functional description of the program under discussion. Trends or problem areas that have become evident through Committee hearings, consideration of prior legislation, or research by the Committee staff or other agencies and organizations, are then discussed. The final chapter is simply a summary of the priority issues to be faced by the Legislature in the next couple of years.
