Abstract:The purpose of this report is to provide guidelines for the planning and design of transit stations, stops, and terminals. These guidelines have been prepared form a market-based point of view. Design elements are suggested that directly relate promoting the success of development activities and transit services. The report discusses general development policies and provides design guidelines for six transit station types -- Central Business District rail stations, neighborhood rail, park and ride stations, transit malls, transfer centers and local stops -- through a range of design phases. Among the topics discussed for each station type are location; market; connections; access; information; image; user comfort, safety and security; operations and management. References. 7,215k, 227p.
