Abstract:

The primary uses of the Nationwide Personal Transportation Survey (NPTS) data are in gaining a better understanding of travel behavior. The data are used to enable DOT officials to assess program initiatives, review programs and policies, and plan for the future. This technical appendix discusses collection methods and comparative data points from previous NPTSs.
