Abstract:This three page document sets out five goals for the Long Island Transportation Plan Study and corresponding objectives. Those goals are (1) Create a framework to develop an integrated multi-modal transportation program for Long Island which coordinates all related agencies, groups, service providers and the general public, (2) Develop and maintain a workable program that will quantitatively improve measurable congestion parameters, (3) Develop cost effective strategies that increase mobility as measured by moving people and goods with minimal delay on Long Island's transportation system, (4) Adequately evaluate transportation strategies, and (5) Comply with the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA) and the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 (CAAA).
