    • Abstract:
The Gary-Chicago-Milwaukee (GCM) Corridor is one of the four "Priority Corridors" established by the United States Congress in the Inter-Modal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA). These corridors have been selected for special federal transportation funding based on very specific transportation and environmental criteria. The GCM Corridor is broadly identified by 16 counties in the states of Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. It includes all major freeways, expressways, major arterials, airports, transit, and rail systems, ports and intermodal transfer stations. The Corridor extends 130 miles

and covers more than 2,500 square miles, is home to more than ten million people and employs more than four million persons. Representatives from state, regional and local agencies and private firms, including tollways, public transit, departments of transportation, service providers and metropolitan

planning organizations, actively participate in corridor activities.
