Abstract:This report by the General Accounting Office examines the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) oversight of the aviation repair station industry. Specifically, this report addresses the following questions: (1) What is the nature and scope of the oversight of repair stations conducted by FAA personnel? (2) How well does FAA follow up on inspections to ensure that the deficiencies in repair station operations are corrected once they have been identified? (3) What steps has FAA taken to improve the oversight of repair stations? This report contains recommendations to the Secretary of Transportation for improving FAA's oversight of repair stations. 95p.
