Abstract:

This report is a collection of papers and discussion transcripts from a workshop on direct fixation fastener systems (DFFS) that are increasingly being used in the construction of modern rail transit systems and system extensions. Preservice testing, specification development and revision, and in-service experience with DFFS are discussed. The preliminary results of field tests are also presented, as well as industry practices and problems, current laboratory procedures, and noise/vibration reduction.
