Abstract:In order to examine specific Automated Guideway Transit (AGT) developments and concepts, and to build a better knowledge base for future decision-making, the Urban Mass Transportation Administration (UMTA) undertook a new program of studies and technology investigations called the UMTA Automated Guideway Transit Technology (AGTT) program. The objectives of one segment of the AGTT program, the System Operations Studies (SOS) were to: (1) develop models for the analysis of system operations; (2) evaluate performance and cost; and (3) establish guidelines for the design and operation of AGT systems. This document describes the organization, operational features, user requirements, and procedures necessary for execution of the Discrete Event Simulation Model (DESM).
