README Analyzing Pre- and Post-Coastal Hazard Pavement Conditions to Optimize Response Strategies for Coastal Infrastructure Resilience 1. OVERVIEW This repository contains supporting data and analysis results for the project “Analyzing Pre- and Post-Coastal Hazard Pavement Conditions to Optimize Response Strategies for Coastal Infrastructure Resilience.” The study evaluates pavement performance and resilience before and after Hurricane Harvey. The pavement condition data used in the study were obtained from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Pavement Management Information System (PMIS). The complete raw PMIS data cannot be redistributed and are not included in this repository. Only selected processed and derived data and analysis results are provided. Rainfall data were obtained from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI). 2. REPOSITORY CONTENTS A. Pavement Performance and Maintenance Data The following files contain selected processed and derived pavement data used to evaluate pavement performance and maintenance: - Best_ACP_Maintenance.xlsx - Best_ACP_Performance.xlsx - Best_CRCP_Maintenance.xlsx - Best_JCP_Maintenance.xlsx - Worst_ACP_Performance.xlsx - Worst_CRCP_Maintenance.xlsx - Worst_JCP_Maintenance.xlsx Pavement type abbreviations: ACP = Asphalt Concrete Pavement CRCP = Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement JCP = Jointed Concrete Pavement B. Multiple Linear Regression and Random Forest Results The following files contain model prediction results and comparisons from Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) and Random Forest (RF) analyses: - Predicted_Condition_2018_Comparison.xlsx - Predicted_Delta_Condition_Comparison.xlsx These files are used to compare the prediction performance of the MLR and RF models. C. Rainfall Data Rainfall data are provided for the following counties: - Brazoria County - Fort Bend County - Galveston County - Harris County - Montgomery County - Walker County - Waller County The rainfall data were obtained from the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) and were used to characterize rainfall associated with Hurricane Harvey. 3. ANALYTICAL METHODS The primary analytical methods used in the study include: - Wilcoxon signed-rank test - Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) - Random Forest (RF) - Robustness Index - Condition Drop - Best- and worst-performing pavement comparison - Maintenance analysis Detailed analytical methods and data-processing procedures are provided in the associated project report. 4. DATA AVAILABILITY AND RESTRICTIONS The complete raw TxDOT PMIS data cannot be redistributed by the authors and are not included in this repository. The pavement-related files provided in this repository contain selected processed and derived PMIS data and analysis results used to support the findings of the study. Researchers seeking access to the complete underlying PMIS data should obtain the applicable data directly from TxDOT. Rainfall data used in the study were obtained from NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI). 5.
