Abstract:The final report of the Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team of the Maryland Medical-Legal Foundation, Inc. is presented. The report describes the methodology, results, discussions, conclusions and recommendations pertaining to the investigation of 50 fatal and non-fatal vehicular accidents occurring in the Greater Baltimore metropolitan area from June 28, 1974 to June 30, 1975. Twenty-five fatal and twenty-five non-fatal accidents were investigated. Particular emphasis was placed upon the human factors aspect of the vehicle accident. The investigation included vehicle and scene examinations, autopsy findings on fatal victims, injury reports on non-fatal victims, toxicological data on all fatal victims and psychosocial evaluations of the "at fault" driver population. Significant findings are compiled in this report concerning a three year period of investigations, totaling 84 fatal and 71 non-fatal vehicular collisions relating to the accident, vehicle and environment.
