Abstract:Three experiments were conducted on form discrimination to select and evaluate forms for shape coding of daymarks. The discriminability of the forms was measured by the frequency with which each form was identified correctly and the frequency with which each form was confused with the other forms under evaluation. The form, in addition to the presently used can and nun, that was found sufficiently discriminable for use as a shape code for daymarks is the hourglass or a cylinder of equal aspect ratio. (Author)
