• Abstract:
  Accurate prediction of highway noise has been a major problem for state highway departments. Many noise models have been proposed to alleviate this problem. Results contained in this report will be used to analyze some of these models, and to determine their accuracy over various areas of the United States. Noise level data for this evaluation were obtained alongside highways and arteries in North Carolina, Florida, Washington, and Colorado. Results include statistical noise data and various other noise indexes for a variety of traffic volumes and speeds, and octave band noise data of individual truck passbys.
